New Beginnings

I started this blog years ago, but recently thought I might return and start a daily habit of posting some of my daily prayer and bible reading activities and thoughts to hold myself accountable!

Prayers:
I just prayed over my family. There are 65 names on the list that I pray for every day. Some know the Lord and some do not. I love each one so much and I pray for their salvation and protection for them from the enemy every day!

I just prayed for the prayer warriors that come to our Power Hour of Prayer and to the Sister and Brother Salvation Prayer group. That group consists of 29 people and I pray they each put on the Armor of God daily to ward off the enemies attempt to derail them from their prayer life. My pastor is included in this group and I pray a bit extra for him when I come to his name because he pretty much has a bullseye on his back when it comes to the enemy.

My prayer over our list of lost ones includes 205 people and I thank God for the burden to pray for them each day as some may have no one else praying for them. Many of them I do not know, but God does and as I lift them up to him He is working in their lives. I give Him all the glory for each person He has transformed because it is only by His power that they are saved-there is nothing we can do on our own to end up in an eternal life in Heaven.

I prayed over 40 of the 200+ people in our church family. I try to pray for at least 40 each day so that in a weeks time they are all prayed for.

Bible Reading:
I read every day in the Bible until I come to something that seems to lift itself off the pages to me and kinda shouts "This is your message for the day!" Sometimes it is only a word and other times a verse or a phrase. Sometimes I read for a short time and other days I read quite a bit. I love how the Lord talks to me and excites me with His messages.
Today's reading - 1 Corinthians 1:1
This verse talks about a man named Sosthenes who traveled with and worked with Paul. It reminds me that only a short time ago Sosthenes led a group against Paul as you can read in Romans 1. But then they were driven out and the Jews Sosthenes led became angry with him and beat him .... so something happened because now here he is with Paul.  This just makes me think that people who might be opposing me and my faith right now might be the very ones who are being convicted by the Holy Spirit and might be the closest to conversion. Maybe a few more hits from this world and they might be walking right beside me.

Book Reading:
I am reading "Listening for God" by Marilyn Hontz. It takes me a long time to read books because I can only read until I am excited about a thought - and that happens quickly and often if it is a good book. This one is!!!
I am in chapter 8 and really need to think more about what I read on pages 101 and 102, which talk about Prayer Burdens. Those are times when you feel a need to pray for someone or something. It an be a heavy feeling that might even wake you up in the middle of the night. You need to pray for that or that person each time you feel the burden until you are released. These are great opportunities to listen to the Holy Spirit and to partner with God. Your prayer might not even be answered, but you will sense a release and a deep assurance that God has answered that prayer so now you can focus on praising and thanking Him for his answer.  She used the example of being in need of a worship leader ... hmmm .... coincidence? Not likely!

What do I feel led to do today?
I offered the "Sinners Prayer" on my facebook page and offered a bit of my story in the comments. Satan always tries to tell me "who do you think you are"! So I wonder if I should be posting those things ... I still wonder, but if it came to my mind I am guessing the Lord put it there.

I am excited about the Tenebrae Service tonight at church and that Pat and Brad are joining me! It is so awesome EVERY time I am there. Now off to fix part of the meal we will enjoy before the program.

Have an blessed day!
